Graduating Senior, Faith Snelson, Plans to Become a Lawyer One Day

Senior Spotlight Graphics-3

Faith Snelson, from Bristol, PA, began at PA Distance when she was in 9th-grade after learning about it from her enrolled cousin. After being homeschooled prior to enrolling, Faith has benefited from having face-to-face interactions with her teachers and peers.

“I love having teachers that you can see and actually talk to and being able to get help from them. I was homeschooled, prior to enrolling at PA Distance, and it didn't work because I never had one-on-one learning,” she explained.

While a student at PA Distance, Faith realized her love for a variety of subjects.

“I enjoy English, History, Art, and Music. I love history and learning about the past and I love making and creating things,” she said. “I liked Drawing and Painting with Mr. Rumble.

After taking History and Government classes at PA Distance, she found an interest in family and criminal law and has decided to pursue a career being a lawyer down the road.

“I’ve been thinking about pursuing law school for a while now. Possibly criminal or family law,” she explained. “I think I would be good at being a lawyer and I think I could help a lot of people.”

She plans to go to Urshan College, in Missouri, and major in Human Services. Faith’s sister is a student at Urshan College and her aunt is a professor, too.

“I went to one of Urshan College’s “preview weekend” and really loved the classes I got to attend,” she said. “Their campus is also really beautiful.”

Outside of her classes,  Faith is busy with extracurricular activities and a part-time job.

Faith is a member of the PA Distance Literary Magazine Club which celebrates the creativity of all students by providing them with the opportunity to write imaginatively and the chance to collaborate with their peers. Students’ creative works are showcased in our school's literary magazine, Bridging the Distance

“In the Literary Magazine Club, we share our own written literature with each other and then we look at the things students submit and create our own magazine,” she explained. “We also had writing workshops in November for National Writing Month.”

Since Faith loves music, she sings soprano and plays piano for her church, too. “I like all types of music and art,” she said. “I've been singing since i was a kid and almost everyone in my family either sings or plays an instrument.”

“My parents have always encouraged me and my siblings to use our talents and not waste them so I do really enjoy singing. Music is a big part of me.”

Lastly, she spends a lot of her free time working as a Brand Associate at Old Navy where she manages the fitting room, works the register, and packages online orders. She usually works four days a week after school during the academic year but more frequently when school is over during the summer.

“I'll miss my teachers and Literary Magazine Club! Everyone in that club is super nice and Mrs. Johnston is the best!” she said. “I'm excited for graduating but it's also bittersweet!”

“I’m excited to have some time to relax and get ready for college. I'm going to Florida soon so I'm just excited to have a good summer and prepare for my next chapter!”
