Students Showcase Their Talent at the Annual Winter Concert

Last month, PA Distance Learning Charter School students exhibited their unique talents at the Annual Winter Concert! Individuals in grades K-12 connected digitally to perform original compositions, well-known tunes, group projects, and class creations. This year also included fun activities, staff performances, and special guests.

At 2 p.m., we heard live from five scholars who demonstrated an array of vocal and instrumental melodies. Second grader Kori wowed all of PA Distance with his keyboard rendition of “Carol of the Bells.” His confidence and excitement lit up the room!

Later in the day, Music and Art Department members showcased their abilities by performing a Boomwhackers interpretation of “Over the River and Through the Woods.” Boomwhackers are tuned percussion tubes used by our fourth graders. Each student receives a set at the beginning of the year.

The K-2 section started with kindergartener Aria, who played a beautiful version of “Away in a Manger” on the keyboard for attendees. Her classmates showed their support online by sending positive and encouraging messages through the chat.

After several amazing vocal performances, members of Pandatonix and Bamboo’s Singers sang “Jingle Bells” before wishing everyone a happy winter break. Pandatonix and Bamboo’s Singers are two of PA Distance’s virtual choirs.

Grades 3-5 kept the ball rolling by singing, dancing, and even juggling. Performances were not limited to just music – Asiyiah showed us how to ombré with watercolors!

Our 6th-12th grade scholars finished the day with their incredible and unique talents. High schooler Kelly’s beautiful piano arrangement astounded the audience.

After listening to their classmates’ stellar recitals, students were invited to participate in some friendly competition with a holiday Kahoot game.

“We want you guys to know that just because we sing and have lots of fun in music class together, making music is forever. It’s not just exclusive to class or school,” Ms. Sapp told students.

“It’s not just teachers, staff, or students who can have fun with music, it is something that can be celebrated by all,” said Mrs. Carpenter.
