Community Engagement Team: Regional 1 Spotlight
Our Community Engagement (CE) Team at PA Distance Learning Charter School can often be found traveling across Pennsylvania to hold educational teacher-led field trips and help sessions. Members also organize special events to empower and engage students and families throughout the school year.

The team provides families with a variety of resources and works as a liaison between each household and their local community, providing guidance and local resources for:
- Crisis & Emergencies
- Disaster Assistance
- Food Resources
- Unemployment
- Mental Health & Well-Being
To help those who are unfamiliar with our CE team gain a better understanding of the team’s day-to-day duties, we are introducing Regional Spotlights. These spotlights will cover each regional coach, past events, upcoming trips, and more.
Star Wars Night at the Erie Otters Game
Mrs. Antonietta Riley became the Regional 1 Community Engagement Coach last October. She was ecstatic to fill the position and get to spend time with PA Distance students and families throughout Western Pennsylvania.
The first events she attended were STEAM Hub “Y on the Fly” and PA Distance Open House 2022. The first activity she organized as the Regional 1 Engagement Coach was a Game Night at Uniontown Public Library.
During a typical day, Mrs. Riley is constantly brainstorming exciting and meaningful ways to engage with students, communicating with current families, prepping locations with necessary materials, and collaborating with other staff members to ensure each activity exceeds expectations. She is also responsible for navigating the PA Distance traveling vans.
“I really want people to feel like they can provide feedback on events. As a Regional Coach, my goal is to prioritize our students’ interests and create fun, engaging opportunities so that everyone can feel comfortable participating. Everything we do is ultimately about the PA Distance kids and families,” Mrs. Riley explained.
Game Night at Uniontown Public Library
Mrs. Riley hopes to see everyone at Family Climb Night in Cranberry Township on March 3 where participants will have the opportunity to rock climb and receive personalized guidance from staff.
“I think it’ll be a really collaborative and hands-on adventure that will get everyone up and moving. I can’t wait!”
