At our cyber school in Pittsburgh and across Pennsylvania, the school day is built on a blended learning model, with live classes balanced by independent work. Live virtual classes meet daily with PA-certified teachers for direct instruction, group discussion, and Q&A. Outside of those live sessions, students complete independent lessons that reinforce and extend what they covered in class.
Every student receives the materials they need to learn from home: a school-issued laptop, hands-on kits, and physical books or workbooks shipped directly to their address, and ongoing tech support from school staff. Teachers monitor progress through a live gradebook, so parents and students see updates as they happen.

K-12 Programs for Pittsburgh Students at Our Online Charter School
Pittsburgh cyber school families don't have to choose different programs for different ages. PA Distance covers every grade level under one roof:
Elementary (K-5): Live daily classes plus signature programs like Zearn Math and Mosa Mack Science build strong literacy, math, and science foundations. PBIS supports social-emotional growth alongside academics.
Middle School (6-8): Six core resources aligned to PA Core standards, plus electives including Computer Science (CodeHS) and a year-long Crew course co-taught by counselors for social-emotional learning.
High School (9-12): Career Education and Work programming, advanced coursework, and Dual Credit options, and immersive zSpace AR/VR labs prepare students for college, training, or careers.
Special education students with IEPs or 504 plans receive accommodations across all grade bands. PA Distance also offers the Odyssey Fellowship Program for academically advanced students in grades 3-12.
Unlike some local district online programs that begin at grade 4, PA Distance opens with Kindergarten, so siblings can enroll in one school from the very start.

When do the clubs meet?
Each club session lasts for an hour or two, once per week or once every other week. They can be held Monday through Friday and the meet-up times span between 3:30 and 7:00pm. Club dates and times are arranged by the club sponsor and are shared with the students prior to registering.
Who Can Enroll: Eligibility for Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania Families
As a cyber school in Pittsburgh and a statewide public cyber charter, PA Distance welcomes any Pennsylvania resident in grades K-12. That means families across Pittsburgh and all 43 Allegheny County school districts, including Pittsburgh Public Schools, North Allegheny, Mt. Lebanon, Fox Chapel, Penn Hills, and Shaler, plus students from anywhere else in the Commonwealth. PA residency is the only geographic requirement.
Transfers from public, private, and homeschool settings are accepted year-round, including mid-year enrollment.
