Academic Partners: Dual Credit Program for PA Distance Students
At PA Distance Learning Charter School, our Academic Partners serve as the essential bridge between our online high school and real college and career readiness. Through our comprehensive dual credit program, PA Distance students gain invaluable access to college-level coursework, industry certifications, and career-ready experiences, all while benefiting from the flexibility and personalized support of our accredited online charter environment.
Our partnerships empower students to start college early, earn credentials that matter, and explore career pathways with confidence, all with the guidance of dedicated PA Distance teachers and counselors every step of the way.
Online High School Dual Credit Options
PA Distance Learning offers qualified 11th and 12th-grade students exceptional online high school dual credit options that allow them to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. Our dual credit partnerships provide students the flexibility to advance their education while receiving comprehensive support from experienced educators.
How to do dual credit in high school online - At PA Distance, the process is straightforward: eligible students work with their counselors to select college-level courses that align with their chosen Career Pathway, complete coursework through our partner institutions, and receive guidance from both college instructors and PA Distance support staff throughout the process.
Each completed dual credit course earns students 0.6 high school credits, comparable to a semester-long AP or Honors course, while also counting toward their college transcript. This powerful advantage allows students to reduce future college costs, explore their interests, and build an impressive academic record without leaving the supportive online charter school environment they know.
The PA Distance Advantage: Flexibility Meets Support
What sets our approach apart is our dedication to flexibility and support. Students benefit from:
Personalized guidance from PA Distance counselors who help match courses to career goals and college plans
Ongoing academic support from PA Distance teachers alongside college instruction
Flexible scheduling that accommodates individual learning styles and family needs
No additional tuition for dual credit courses through most partner institutions
College credit that transfers to Pennsylvania colleges and universities
Act 158 graduation artifacts earned through successful course completion
Our students don't navigate dual enrollment alone. PA Distance teachers and counselors provide continuous mentorship, ensuring students feel confident and prepared as they transition into college-level work while maintaining their high school requirements.
